September 4, 2007 - Half-day Sesshin September 29A half-day of practice will be offered on September 29, 2007 from 6am to 2pm. Sesshin consist of zazen, meals, and samu, and the event will end with a casual lunch. Saturday samu is cancelled, but 6pm zazen and the Sunday introduction will be held as normal.
September 1, 2007 - Into Great SilenceThe River Gallery and New Orleans Zen Temple will sponsor a screening of the remarkable film, Into Great Silence by Philip Groning on September 7 and 8 at 7pm and September 9 at 2pm. Screenings will be free and will take place at the River Gallery, 748 Camp St downstairs. Refreshments available.
July 10, 2007 - Zazen and GenmaiThe zazen schedule will be retained from earlier this summer, with a full daily practice schedule outside of hosan (Monday). Saturday practice will start at 1pm with samu, zazen at 6pm. Genmai will be served on weekday mornings after practice ($1/day or $10/month).
July 1, 2007 - Building WorkThe Temple and AZA have received funding to help repair damage from the 2005 hurricanes, and work will proceed later this summer and in the fall. The roof of the Camp St facility must be replaced, along with repairs to related water damage.
June 8, 2007 - JapanFest 2007The Temple will be participating in JapanFest 2007 at the New Orleans Museum of Art. A small dojo will be setup and zazen instruction provided to attendees.
June 1, 2007 - Visiting Nun from European SanghaElaine Konopka from the Paris sangha will be visiting New Orleans to help complete the translation and preparation of Master Deshimaru's Book of the Kesa, to be released early 2008.
