Beginning Practice
The New Orleans Zen Temple provides beginner lessons for Zazen practice once per month. Lessons provide instruction on posture, breathing, and focus of zazen, and on the etiquette and ceremony of the dojo. It is important to receive proper instruction before participating in the scheduled zazen sessions.
Bring loose, darker colored clothing for lesson and zazen, no shorts or sleeveless tops, fragrances or excessive jewelry. Do not enter the dojo when dirty, especially the hands and feet.
Contact the temple for next orientation date.
Zazen is not an easy practice. Especially in the beginning, it requires
effort and determination. But it is not difficult either. Through patient,
daily repetition, anyone can practice Zen.
